Warehousing and Distribution - "the cargo shuttle" Much of the cargo consigned to the Rome area is shipped in by truck from other parts of the country, from continental Europe or from distant seaports, in inter-modal containers. Much of the centre of Rome, and indeed many locations in the outer suburbs, are inaccessible for large trucks, and in those that are, it is often impossible or illegal for trucks or trailers to wait in the streets whilst goods are unloaded or containers stripped. Situated just outside Rome, away from the traffic jams, access and parking problems which plague the city centre and suburbs, our warehouse can provide you with cost-and-time-saving logistic solutions. Containers and large truckloads can be sent directly to our warehouse where the cargo is unloaded either into interim storage facilities or directly on to small trucks which operate a "shuttle" service across to the final destination. Smaller trucks with easy-to-handle loads can navigate the traffic-strangled streets better than their big sisters, they can park closer and unload more rapidly, thus saving the extra expense of costly labour for unloading and "waiting time" for the intercity or international trucker. Reverse logistics are also possible shuttling goods from inner city premises to our warehouse for interim storage until full container or truckloads are accumulated, when the trucker can arrive to pick up with a minimum of wasted time. This system also provides an ideal solution for manufacturers and retailers whose production and stock control methods or limited storage facilities require frequent intake of relatively small quantities (Just-in-Time deliveries) which would be neither convenient, nor economical, for a distant supplier. |
